Schools have always been important to Vickie. Growing up in a trailer park in rural Davidson County, she saw that education was the key to creating a better life for herself and her family. After graduating as Salutatorian from Winston-Salem’s Parkland High School, Vickie became an honor graduate of UNC Charlotte and a NC Teaching Fellow.
