Xavier Cason earned his bachelor's degree in music education from North Carolina Central University and his master's degree in music education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Xavier is a retired educator. He previously taught at the elementary, middle, and high school levels in Columbus and Durham Counties in North Carolina. He also served as the director of bands at North Carolina Central University. He is currently a Ph.D. student at North Carolina State University, studying education evaluation and policy analysis.
