Quamekia Shavers is originally from Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She earned her bachelor of arts in English language and literature from Winston-Salem State University and her master of education in educational/instructional technology from American InterContinental University. Quamekia volunteers in Winston-Salem as a mentor for students at risk of dropping out of high school.

Quamekia currently works as the Chief Executive Officer of Shavers Lewis Realty, LLC. She previously worked as a real estate agent with Keller Williams Elite Realty and as a lead preschool teacher at Mudpies Inc.
