Doug Farmer

Doug is a retired law enforcement officer. He worked at the Sylva Police Department from 2010 until he retired in 2019. He previously spent 11 years at the Macon County Sheriff’s Office, had a short stint with the Highlands Police Department, and spent a year in Iraq training that country’s police officers.

Doug is currently the sheriff of Jackson County. He was elected in 2022 and is currently serving his first term. Before his election as sheriff, Doug worked for the Sylva Police Department from 2010 to 2019 and the Macon County Sheriff's Office for 11 years.
