Jason L. Butler is from Lauren Hill, North Carolina. He earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Appalachian State University and completed his Basic Law Enforcement Training at Robeson Community College. He holds an Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate. He lives with his wife, Mary, and their two children in Laurinburg, North Carolina.

Jason currently works as a Captain of Training & Standards at the Scotland County Sheriff's Office. He previously served as a Patrol Lieutenant with the Laurinburg Police Department and was the Director of Entertainment and Activities at Jerry's Deli and Grill.

Jason's campaign for Scotland County Sheriff is his first run for public office.
