Dan Kiger is a resident of the State Road community and has lived in the region for more than 45 years. He and his wife, Becky, raised their family in Surry County.

Dan is a veteran of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, where he retired as a Sergeant. During his law enforcement career, he earned an advanced degree and served as an instructor at every basic training academy for two decades. Following his retirement, he served as a supervisor for campus police at Wake Forest University and currently owns a local driver education business.

Dan served two terms as the Chairman of the Surry County Republican Party. He currently serves on the N.C. Criminal Justice Information Network Governing Board, a statewide body coordinating technology and information sharing for law enforcement and courts.
