Traci is from Missouri City. She has a bachelor�'s degree from Texas A&M University and a law degree from the University of Houston. She lives in Houston and volunteers as a precinct chair for the Harris County Democratic Party, board member of the Houston Black American Democrats, a member of the alumni advisory board of the Southwest Black Law Students Association, and a deputy director for the National Bar Association.

Traci currently works as an attorney at Gibson Hamilton, PLCC. She previously worked as an adjunct professor at the University of Houston Law Center, an attorney at Roberts Market Weinberg Butler Hailey PC, an assistant district attorney at the Harris County District Attorney's Office, and an attorney at Traci A. Gibson, PLLC.

Traci's campaign for Harris County Democratic Party chair is her first run for public office.
