Doug currently works as the principal for Ground Strategies. He previously worked as the executive director and lead organizer for the Industrial Areas Foundation in multiple Texas regions; the chief of staff for State Representative Gina Hinojosa in the Texas House of Representatives; the director of programs and program development for Equality California; and a secondary english and social studies teacher for Johnston High School in the Austin Independent School District.

Doug was appointed to Party Chair of the Travis County Democrats in 2025. He previously ran for the mayor of Austin, Texas in 2024, but did not win.
