Shenghao "Daniel" Wang is an Austin native. He has a bachelor's degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a law degree from Harvard Law School. Daniel served on the Travis County Democratic Party Chair's Advisory Council and volunteers at the United Way of Greater Austin and the Austin Chinese-American Network. 

Shenghao "Daniel" Wang is currently a commissioner on the Travis Central Appraisal District Board of Directors. He was elected after defeating then-Travis County Republican Party Chair Matt Mackowiak. He is running for the Texas House of Representatives to represent District 49 and is on the ballot in the March 3, 2026 Democratic primary.
