David Cook is from Mansfield, Texas. He earned a bachelor's degree in public administration from Stephen F. Austin University and a law degree from Texas A&M University School of Law. He lives with his wife, Tonya, in Mansfield, Texas, has four adult kids, and attends Creekwood Church.

David is the president and escrow officer for Yellowstone Title, an insurance company. He previously worked as the president and escrow officer for the Alamo Title Company Fee Office, a managing partner, associate attorney, and law clerk for Harris Cook Law, the president of Chris Harris & Associates, PC, and a legislative aide for Texas State Representative Jerry Johnson and Texas State Senator Chris Harris.

David currently serves as a member of the Texas House of Representatives, representing District 96. He was first elected in 2021 and is in his third term. David previously served as the Mayor of Mansfield, Texas. He served three terms from 2008 to 2020.
