Craig earned a bachelor's degree in psychology, a law degree and master’s degree in business administration from the University of Houston, a master's degree in criminal justice leadership from Sam Houston State University, and a master's degree in public service and administration from Texas A&M University. He has five children. 

Craig is the Director of School Safety and Emergency Management at KIPP Texas Public Schools. He works at KIPP Texas Public Schools. He previously began his career with the Houston Police Department, rising to the rank of Captain and leading the Special Crimes Division. He then served as Acting Assistant Chief of the Houston Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Command, as Assistant Chief of Police for the Harris County METRO Police Department, as Chief of Police for Aldine Independent School District, and worked with the Texas Education Agency to create and implement new safety protocols in schools across Texas.

Craig previously worked as director of school safety at KIPP Texas Public Schools, as school safety statewide program manager for the Texas Education Agency, as executive director and chief of police for Aldine ISD, as assistant chief of police for METRO Police Department, and for the Houston Police Department where he rose through the ranks from police officer to captain.
