Corruption

In August 2012, she was found guilty of seven ethics violations during her time as mayor of East Point. She had filed a lawsuit against the city, arguing collecting franchise fees was against city charter, but "had no intention in moving forward with it, though it still cost taxpayers money." The hearing officer found that the lawsuit "created a personal and financial conflict of interest ... \[and that\] the mayor knowingly failed to recuse herself from council actions on the lawsuit."

She was sued by two city residents who called for her removal from office. They claimed that she was "meddling in the day-to-day operations of the city ... \[and\] violated the open-meetings laws." She told reporters, "\[t\]he whole suit is laughable. I'm not surprised about anything some certain residents in the city will do. I made them very angry." The lawsuit ended when she was not re-elected in 2013.
