John was born and raised in Hendersonville, North Carolina. He has an associate's degree in business management from University of Phoenix. He was president of Cobb County Foster Adoptive Parent Association. He has lived in Marietta for 18 years. He lives in Marietta with his wife. They have 11 year old twin daughters, and he has two stepchildren.
