Steve attended Marietta High School. He has a bachelor's degree from the University of Georgia, a master's degree in business administration from the University of Denver and a law degree from Georgia State University. He and his wife, Jean, have three children and six grandchildren. They attend First United Methodist Church of Marietta.

Steve is an accountant, an attorney and he owns a business.

Steve "Thunder" Tumlin is mayor of Marietta. He was elected in 2009 and has served three terms. He was previously a member of the Georgia House of Representatives representing District 38. He is a member of the Republican Party.

Steve "Thunder" Tumlin
