David M. Hamm is a retired educator who graduated from Northwood High School in 1974 and East Carolina University with a BS in Elementary Education/Reading in 1978. He has been married to Ellen since 1980, who is also a retired educator, and they have four daughters, Melissa, Catherine, Elizabeth, and Allison. He served as a part-time Youth Minister at First Baptist Church Siler City from 1986 to 1988.

David M. Hamm is a retired educator who has worked with Chatham County Schools (CCS) in various roles including first grade teacher, coach, assistant principal, and principal. He has been a member of the CCS Board of Education since 2008. Hamm also holds an Administration Degree from UNC-CH obtained in 1982 and a BS in Elementary Education/Reading from East Carolina University, graduated in 1978.
