MEET YANNETTE
 Madison became home for Yannette Figueroa Cole over 30 years ago, where she built a life with her husband Jesse, raised their son, and rescued their beloved puppy “MaeRican” from Puerto Rico.
Her dedication to public service began before elected office, as a leader in the Neighborhood Association and volunteering with Friends of the State Street Families, supporting Madison’s unsheltered population.
Since her election as District 10 Alder in 2021, Yannette has championed inclusive and equitable policies in public safety, housing, and transportation. She has risen to leadership roles as Council Vice President and now serves as Madison’s first Latina Council President.
Yannette consistently goes above and beyond for constituents, helping them navigate city services, attending community meetings, and building partnerships to ensure all voices are heard.

Priorities:
Under my leadership as District 10 Alder and Council President, I’ve focused on five key areas essential to Madison’s future: public safety, housing accessibility, transportation equity, public budget engagement, and strategic partnerships. My approach centers on serving our most vulnerable community members, knowing that when we strengthen support for those most in need, our entire community thrives.
Public Safety:
Madison deserves emergency response systems that meet the unique needs of every resident. As your Alder, I’ve championed innovative solutions that make our community safer:
Expanded the CARES (Community Alternative Response Emergency Services) program through increased funding and broader geographical coverage including a pilot expansion to Sun Prairie, creating both enhanced services, trauma-informed training and new revenue streams.
