Jalal Abdallah was born and raised in Michigan’s 15th House District. He was raised by immigrant parents who ran a small business. He attended Lowrey Elementary and Middle School and graduated from Fordson High School. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan-Dearborn and a law degree from Cooley Law School. He is married and has a daughter.

Jalal works as an attorney handling family law and personal injury cases. In 2021, he opened his own family-owned law practice. He previously worked for Sugar Law, gaining experience in nonprofit and labor law, and briefly worked in a public defender's office.
